We have been down this road several times now. Not matter how much certain individuals desire a BMW pickup truck, they just don’t make them.
But since they announced a front wheel drive vehicle, which was also considered blasphemy, maybe sometime in the future we will get a pickup truck from the German car maker.
Until then, if you must have one, just build it yourself, like the one in the pictures. It uses a 1971 BMW 1600 as the base model, and the end result is quite amazing, with quality materials and craftsmanship going into it. To get it to this state, extensive modding was required, and not just aesthetically.
Initially fitted with a 1.6 liter engine (hint – the name), the owner decided to go bigger and installed a new 2.5 liter unit. This in-line six cylinder engine also comes from a BMW, and power output is somewhere around 170 Hp, power that is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 5 speed manual transmission.
For a complete package, the owner also fitted Jaguar brakes, bucket seats and a custom roll bar. Oh, and it’s up for sale if you can spare 14.700 USD.
