It was about time that we hear something from Manhart regarding the BMW i sub-brand, and as luck would have it, it is something about the i8.
As with all the other tuners, no kit has yet been released, but we do have a nice preview of things to come.
Before get into it, there is one thing that you must know about the BMW i8. While the looks of the car are extremely cool, they are not just for show. Even from the start, BMW took pride in the fact that the design was dictated by aerodynamics, with the prototype i8 spending many hours in the wind tunnel.
As a result, any modification to the body will most likely ruin the aerodynamics of the car, or at the very best keep it the same. This means that tuners should just worry and focus on the aesthetics of it. What Manhart previewed here is a BMW i8 which saw very little alteration. Besides the new color scheme, which rocks, and a new set of wheels, it looks like only the front bumper was reworked.
If I were to venture a guess, I’d say it was because they know a thing about aerodynamics. Also, with so little exterior work, I am very curious as to what they plan for the power house, if anything.
