A couple of years ago it was quite a rare sight seeing a BMW customized by aftermarket shops, but with the passing of time, the technicians have begun to realize the opportunity that the plug-in hybrid had for tuning project, so they started modifying the model beyond recognition.
And here we are in 2016 with hundreds of BMW i8s receiving the best styling bits and performance from the tuning segment. And we have seen examples of exquisite models being displayed at BMW Abu Dhabi or wrapping different styling kits from tuners like Vorsteiner.
And most recently, the technicians from the same Vorsteiner have added their one-off wheels along with some slight body changes.
The tuner haven’t added any wide or outstanding styling components, this i8 receiving a subtle kit with just a few modifications at the front and rear end. We are looking here at a carbon fiber boot lid spoiler in duck tail, front spoiler lip, or rear diffuser insert. The car`s main highlight is the new wheels.
As we can depict from the pictures, the carmaker`s first plug-in hybrid is standing out from the crowd with the Vorsteiner`s VF-E 402 wheels, finished in Brushed Dark Shadow Tint and providing the model with a more standout stance.
In the engine department, the BMW i8 still packs the same high-performance hybrid drivetrain, consisting of a 1.5-liter conventional engine hooked to an electric motor, with an overall of 362 horsepower.
Vorsteiner tuner have also added an impressive photo gallery with their latest project. Enjoy the ride and don’t forget to share your opinions with us!
