<p>If the <a href="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/2012/04/manhart-racing-announcecs-mh5-s-biturbo-bmw-m5/">BMW M5 got a makeover</a>, why wouldn&#8217;t one of the company&#8217;s more exciting products get a similar makeover with the equation.</p>
<figure id="attachment_1088" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-1088" style="width: 520px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Manhart-Racing-MH1-S-Biturbo-BMW-1-Series-M-Coupe-2.jpg" rel="lightbox-0"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" src="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Manhart-Racing-MH1-S-Biturbo-BMW-1-Series-M-Coupe-2.jpg" alt="Manhart Racing MH1 S-Biturbo BMW 1 Series M Coupe" width="520" height="346" class="size-full wp-image-1088" srcset="https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Manhart-Racing-MH1-S-Biturbo-BMW-1-Series-M-Coupe-2.jpg 850w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Manhart-Racing-MH1-S-Biturbo-BMW-1-Series-M-Coupe-2-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Manhart-Racing-MH1-S-Biturbo-BMW-1-Series-M-Coupe-2-768x511.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-1088" class="wp-caption-text">Manhart Racing MH1 S-Biturbo BMW 1 Series M Coupe</figcaption></figure>
<p>Enter the Manhart MH1 S-Biturbo; a special conversion for the BMW 1 Series M Coupe. This is where things get a little more interesting.<br />
<span id="more-1085"></span><br />
Before we get to the new look let&#8217;s consider the amount of people who claim the original car doesn&#8217;t get enough of a power boost from BMW.</p>
<p>If the 1 Series would be faster than the M3, things would be seriously problematic. Manhart racing doesn&#8217;t have enough time to consider corporate dilemmas so they came up with the Stage 3 idea.</p>
<figure id="attachment_1089" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-1089" style="width: 520px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Manhart-Racing-MH1-S-Biturbo-BMW-1-Series-M-Coupe-1.jpg" rel="lightbox-1"><img decoding="async" src="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Manhart-Racing-MH1-S-Biturbo-BMW-1-Series-M-Coupe-1.jpg" alt="Manhart Racing MH1 S-Biturbo BMW 1 Series M Coupe" width="520" height="347" class="size-full wp-image-1089" srcset="https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Manhart-Racing-MH1-S-Biturbo-BMW-1-Series-M-Coupe-1.jpg 850w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Manhart-Racing-MH1-S-Biturbo-BMW-1-Series-M-Coupe-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Manhart-Racing-MH1-S-Biturbo-BMW-1-Series-M-Coupe-1-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-1089" class="wp-caption-text">Manhart Racing MH1 S-Biturbo BMW 1 Series M Coupe</figcaption></figure>
<p>Fiddle is not the word we should use. Let&#8217;s say Manhart racing went on to monster the mods on the 3.0 liter turbocharged straight six cylinder.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s why the same engine now produces a total of 465 horsepower and 442 ft-lb torque. I wonder if Stage 3 is what they call the boss level.</p>
<p>You get a carbon fiber air box, sports exhaust system with downpipes and stainless steel mufflers. This is where they mixed in the enormous turbocharger.</p>
<figure id="attachment_1090" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-1090" style="width: 520px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Manhart-Racing-MH1-S-Biturbo-BMW-1-Series-M-Coupe-3.jpg" rel="lightbox-2"><img decoding="async" src="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Manhart-Racing-MH1-S-Biturbo-BMW-1-Series-M-Coupe-3.jpg" alt="Manhart Racing MH1 S-Biturbo BMW 1 Series M Coupe" width="520" height="347" class="size-full wp-image-1090" srcset="https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Manhart-Racing-MH1-S-Biturbo-BMW-1-Series-M-Coupe-3.jpg 850w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Manhart-Racing-MH1-S-Biturbo-BMW-1-Series-M-Coupe-3-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Manhart-Racing-MH1-S-Biturbo-BMW-1-Series-M-Coupe-3-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-1090" class="wp-caption-text">Manhart Racing MH1 S-Biturbo BMW 1 Series M Coupe</figcaption></figure>
<p>Further more, the German tuner made sure to upgrade the whole of the cooling system so that all your hooning needs are met without any steam appearing in the equation.</p>
<p>The final bit of the equation was a carbon fiber body kit. This one is painted black and looks seriously evil even while it&#8217;s standing still.</p>

<p>This particular unit is special because alongside the new design looks the 1 Series Coupe also gets some performance tweaks underneath the body.</p>
<figure id="attachment_638" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-638" style="width: 520px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Performance-for-Prior-BMW-1-Series-1.jpg" rel="lightbox-0"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Performance-for-Prior-BMW-1-Series-1.jpg" alt="Performance for Prior BMW 1 Series" width="520" height="351" class="size-full wp-image-638" srcset="https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Performance-for-Prior-BMW-1-Series-1.jpg 800w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Performance-for-Prior-BMW-1-Series-1-300x203.jpg 300w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Performance-for-Prior-BMW-1-Series-1-768x518.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-638" class="wp-caption-text">Performance for Prior BMW 1 Series</figcaption></figure>
<p>It&#8217;s a seriously thorough job and since they started with the 135i you now we&#8217;re not going to spend too much time talking about the beauty of fuel economy.<br />
<span id="more-636"></span><br />
The once fairly efficient 3.0 liter straight six with TwinPower turbocharging technology has had all the efficiency beaten out of in order to produce more power.</p>
<p>Add in the following: an Eisenmann Racing exhaust with Zeller Nachkats cat-back, Bavaria Performance downpipes, Wagner FMIC and a MS-Chiptuning Stage 3+ package.</p>
<figure id="attachment_639" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-639" style="width: 520px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Performance-for-Prior-BMW-1-Series-3.jpg" rel="lightbox-1"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Performance-for-Prior-BMW-1-Series-3.jpg" alt="Performance for Prior BMW 1 Series" width="520" height="351" class="size-full wp-image-639" srcset="https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Performance-for-Prior-BMW-1-Series-3.jpg 800w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Performance-for-Prior-BMW-1-Series-3-300x203.jpg 300w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Performance-for-Prior-BMW-1-Series-3-768x518.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-639" class="wp-caption-text">Performance for Prior BMW 1 Series</figcaption></figure>
<p>Together, all of these changes bump the power up to precisely 420 horsepower. Does that figure seem familiar?</p>
<p>Even if it doesn&#8217;t the fitting of that kind of power in a BMW 1 Series M Coupe isn&#8217;t something to cry over. Actually, it is if you&#8217;re caught out by the surprise of that kind of grunt.</p>
<p>Hopefully, you won&#8217;t though, because then you&#8217;d stuff a very rare car with a beautiful Prior Design exterior body kit.</p>
<p>You&#8217;d also be destroying one of those garage and vision built fan cars that aim to replicate the BMW 1 Series M Coupe.</p>
<figure id="attachment_640" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-640" style="width: 520px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Performance-for-Prior-BMW-1-Series-2.jpg" rel="lightbox-2"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Performance-for-Prior-BMW-1-Series-2.jpg" alt="Performance for Prior BMW 1 Series" width="520" height="351" class="size-full wp-image-640" srcset="https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Performance-for-Prior-BMW-1-Series-2.jpg 800w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Performance-for-Prior-BMW-1-Series-2-300x203.jpg 300w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Performance-for-Prior-BMW-1-Series-2-768x518.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-640" class="wp-caption-text">Performance for Prior BMW 1 Series</figcaption></figure>
<p>This one may come short on suspension and differential toys but it&#8217;s got quite a bit more power and what looks like a great interior.</p>
<p>Just about every toy has been upgraded and almost all of the fittings are now of a higher quality. For a kick off just look at the M3 instrument cluster and that pedal and seat layout.</p>
