<p>So what happens when all of these great German &#8220;institutions&#8221; come together? Well, something quite interesting actually.<br />
<span id="more-250"></span><br />
We get a tuning car that&#8217;s not meant to race in NFS games, it won&#8217;t outrun the cops and it won&#8217;t be a bad boy.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s actually a 1 Series tuner that will be fighting with the Police in order to roam the Autobahn doing just what we&#8217;ve shown you earlier.</p>
<figure id="attachment_253" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-253" style="width: 520px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/BMW-123d-Police-car-by-AC-Schnitzer-3.jpg" rel="lightbox-1"><img decoding="async" src="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/BMW-123d-Police-car-by-AC-Schnitzer-3.jpg" alt="BMW 123d Police car by AC Schnitzer" width="520" height="332" class="size-full wp-image-253" srcset="https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/BMW-123d-Police-car-by-AC-Schnitzer-3.jpg 800w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/BMW-123d-Police-car-by-AC-Schnitzer-3-300x191.jpg 300w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/BMW-123d-Police-car-by-AC-Schnitzer-3-768x490.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-253" class="wp-caption-text">BMW 123d Police car by AC Schnitzer</figcaption></figure>
<p>The model here is a BMW 123d and it is originally powered by a 2.0 liter diesel. Don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s a slouch though.</p>
<p>Thanks to some fiddling around by AC Schnitzer, that engine now produces 241 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque.</p>
<p>That should be plenty for most cruising opportunities, even on the Autobahn. Don&#8217;t think the Polizei just wanted a cooler car to come up with this.</p>
<p>They&#8217;ve actually partnered up with the German Ministry of Transport to create a campaign called &#8220;Tune It! Save!&#8221;. The aim is to focus on proper tuning of a car.</p>
<figure id="attachment_254" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-254" style="width: 520px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/BMW-123d-Police-car-by-AC-Schnitzer-2.jpg" rel="lightbox-2"><img decoding="async" src="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/BMW-123d-Police-car-by-AC-Schnitzer-2.jpg" alt="BMW 123d Police car by AC Schnitzer" width="520" height="332" class="size-full wp-image-254" srcset="https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/BMW-123d-Police-car-by-AC-Schnitzer-2.jpg 800w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/BMW-123d-Police-car-by-AC-Schnitzer-2-300x191.jpg 300w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/BMW-123d-Police-car-by-AC-Schnitzer-2-768x490.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-254" class="wp-caption-text">BMW 123d Police car by AC Schnitzer</figcaption></figure>
<p>Apparently the idea is to discourage poorly built shed cars being pushed to or beyond their limit by the people who build them.</p>
<p>An admirable idea and we&#8217;d say and hope it gets implemented elsewhere as well. Even though not every country in the world has speed enticing roads, the cops could use faster cars.</p>
