<p>The E9x series has had its share of mods and tweaks but it&#8217;s usually the E90 sedan or the E92 coupe that got the glory and attention.</p>

<p>On this occasion it&#8217;s the E93 version that grabs center stage, meaning we&#8217;re looking at the convertible version of the glorious M3.<br />
<span id="more-1805"></span><br />
K3 Projekt Wheels is the tuning company which came up with this one and, perhaps predictably, they&#8217;ve tweaked just about everything around a single item.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, it is not the engine. It&#8217;s actually the new 20 inch wheel set of light alloys the M3 gets all around.</p>
<figure id="attachment_1808" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-1808" style="width: 520px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/K3-Projekt-Wheels-E93-BMW-M3-2.jpg" rel="lightbox-1"><img decoding="async" src="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/K3-Projekt-Wheels-E93-BMW-M3-2.jpg" alt="K3 Projekt Wheels E93 BMW M3" width="520" height="325" class="size-full wp-image-1808" srcset="https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/K3-Projekt-Wheels-E93-BMW-M3-2.jpg 1200w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/K3-Projekt-Wheels-E93-BMW-M3-2-300x188.jpg 300w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/K3-Projekt-Wheels-E93-BMW-M3-2-768x480.jpg 768w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/K3-Projekt-Wheels-E93-BMW-M3-2-1024x640.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-1808" class="wp-caption-text">K3 Projekt Wheels E93 BMW M3</figcaption></figure>
<p>Variations do occur between the frond the rear as the exact dimensions come in at 20×9 front and 20×11 rear with tires similarly proportioned.</p>
<p>Tires wrapped around these wheels come from an unnamed manufacturer which probably specializes in bikninis since they&#8217;re so small and interesting.</p>
<p>The actual setup calls for 245/30/20 at the front and 285/25/20 at the rear. Wheels and tires aside, making the car look even better with these modifications is a new suspension setup.</p>
<figure id="attachment_1809" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-1809" style="width: 520px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/K3-Projekt-Wheels-E93-BMW-M3-3.jpg" rel="lightbox-2"><img decoding="async" src="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/K3-Projekt-Wheels-E93-BMW-M3-3.jpg" alt="K3 Projekt Wheels E93 BMW M3" width="520" height="325" class="size-full wp-image-1809" srcset="https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/K3-Projekt-Wheels-E93-BMW-M3-3.jpg 1200w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/K3-Projekt-Wheels-E93-BMW-M3-3-300x188.jpg 300w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/K3-Projekt-Wheels-E93-BMW-M3-3-768x480.jpg 768w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/K3-Projekt-Wheels-E93-BMW-M3-3-1024x640.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-1809" class="wp-caption-text">K3 Projekt Wheels E93 BMW M3</figcaption></figure>
<p>A KW coilover package was employed in order to lower the car and make it look as sporty as possible but that didn&#8217;t really cut it.</p>
<p>It was only after the bumper kit went on that K3 Projekt Wheels got the desired effect. Again, nothing confirmed on who made the bumpers.</p>

<p>So am I and so many people are actually impressed by what the car has to give that the tuning business isn&#8217;t really bothering too much with upgrading it in an exaggerated fashion.</p>

<p>In fact, most of the packages we get to see are so light that the alloy wheels are what&#8217;s going to be changed and if there is a body kit to consider, it&#8217;s usually borrowed.<br />
<span id="more-1563"></span><br />
The one here is the brainchild of K3 Projekt wheels and though the aesthetics have been altered, they&#8217;re signed by a different company.</p>
<p>iND is the company behind the front rear bumpers and the side skirts. Covering up the whole thing is a new Estoril Blue paint.</p>
<figure id="attachment_1566" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-1566" style="width: 520px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/F30-BMW-3-Series-by-K3-Projekt-Wheels-2.jpg" rel="lightbox-1"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/F30-BMW-3-Series-by-K3-Projekt-Wheels-2.jpg" alt="F30 BMW 3 Series by K3 Projekt Wheels" width="520" height="325" class="size-full wp-image-1566" srcset="https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/F30-BMW-3-Series-by-K3-Projekt-Wheels-2.jpg 1200w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/F30-BMW-3-Series-by-K3-Projekt-Wheels-2-300x188.jpg 300w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/F30-BMW-3-Series-by-K3-Projekt-Wheels-2-768x480.jpg 768w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/F30-BMW-3-Series-by-K3-Projekt-Wheels-2-1024x640.jpg 1024w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-1566" class="wp-caption-text">F30 BMW 3 Series by K3 Projekt Wheels</figcaption></figure>
<p>Quite the eye poping shade, and those BC Racing BR type coilovers serve up quite the suspension drop. You couldn&#8217;t tell this was an American conceived tune-up, could you?</p>
<p>Going for the full honors, the marketing folk at K3 Projekt Wheels even tell us they&#8217;ve fitted a BMS JB4 Stage 1 Tune, whatever that is.</p>
<p>At least the 20 inch alloy wheel setup we get and the Pirelli P-Zero tires are a must for anybody who&#8217;s at least a tiny bit serious about keeping the performance factor in the equation.</p>
<figure id="attachment_1567" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-1567" style="width: 520px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/F30-BMW-3-Series-by-K3-Projekt-Wheels-3.jpg" rel="lightbox-2"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/F30-BMW-3-Series-by-K3-Projekt-Wheels-3.jpg" alt="F30 BMW 3 Series by K3 Projekt Wheels" width="520" height="325" class="size-full wp-image-1567" srcset="https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/F30-BMW-3-Series-by-K3-Projekt-Wheels-3.jpg 1200w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/F30-BMW-3-Series-by-K3-Projekt-Wheels-3-300x188.jpg 300w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/F30-BMW-3-Series-by-K3-Projekt-Wheels-3-768x480.jpg 768w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/F30-BMW-3-Series-by-K3-Projekt-Wheels-3-1024x640.jpg 1024w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-1567" class="wp-caption-text">F30 BMW 3 Series by K3 Projekt Wheels</figcaption></figure>
<p>Those wheels are built in house and look just about stunning without appearing to have any kind of effort, without any explanation needed or any apologies available.</p>

<p>Having said that, it&#8217;s tricky to look at a previous model one which receives some tuning from whatever company and say they had a bad starting point.</p>
<figure id="attachment_1428" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-1428" style="width: 520px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/E60-BMW-M5-by-Project-K3-1.jpg" rel="lightbox-0"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/E60-BMW-M5-by-Project-K3-1.jpg" alt="E60 BMW M5 by K3 Project" width="520" height="346" class="size-full wp-image-1428" srcset="https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/E60-BMW-M5-by-Project-K3-1.jpg 847w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/E60-BMW-M5-by-Project-K3-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/E60-BMW-M5-by-Project-K3-1-768x511.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-1428" class="wp-caption-text">E60 BMW M5 by K3 Project</figcaption></figure>
<p>In the case of the Americans at K3 Project, the E60 M5 starter is pretty much one of the finest of the breed. It&#8217;s possibly the most visceral one of the lot.<br />
<span id="more-1426"></span><br />
The Florida-based outfit didn&#8217;t stray too far from the tree either. They kept things about as simple as BMW&#8217;s discrete styling could a while back.</p>
<p>They&#8217;ve fiddled about with the way the E60 M5 looks but in the end it&#8217;s very easy to spot it as the same car with a few personal touches rather than a toy rocket drawn up by a child in NFS.</p>
<figure id="attachment_1429" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-1429" style="width: 520px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/E60-BMW-M5-by-Project-K3-3.jpg" rel="lightbox-1"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/E60-BMW-M5-by-Project-K3-3.jpg" alt="E60 BMW M5 by K3 Project" width="520" height="346" class="size-full wp-image-1429" srcset="https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/E60-BMW-M5-by-Project-K3-3.jpg 847w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/E60-BMW-M5-by-Project-K3-3-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/E60-BMW-M5-by-Project-K3-3-768x511.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-1429" class="wp-caption-text">E60 BMW M5 by K3 Project</figcaption></figure>
<p>Carbon fiber bits such as a front lip, large air intake trims and corner spoilers make their way in and bring along a diffuser for the back.</p>
<p>The most dramatic change the E60 BMW M5 gets from K3 is a set of 20 inch wheels from a set they call Projekt 1. Somebody isn&#8217;t great at spelling it seems.</p>
<p>Anyway, the wheels are stunning but the tires they ride on seem even more impressive as they are 255 sections for the front and 305 at the back.</p>

<p>That&#8217;s a whole lot of rubber, even if you do have more than 500 horsepower to tame coming from a 5.0 liter naturally aspirated V10. </p>
