<p>The thing is, before the Bavarians refreshed their product, there have been quite a few examples of other companies doing it.</p>
<figure id="attachment_333" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-333" style="width: 520px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Hartge-BMW-X1-1.jpg" rel="lightbox-0"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" src="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Hartge-BMW-X1-1.jpg" alt="Hartge BMW X1" width="520" height="390" class="size-full wp-image-333" srcset="https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Hartge-BMW-X1-1.jpg 920w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Hartge-BMW-X1-1-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Hartge-BMW-X1-1-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Hartge-BMW-X1-1-320x240.jpg 320w" sizes="(max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-333" class="wp-caption-text">Hartge BMW X1</figcaption></figure>
<p>Hartge Tuning is one of them and reminding ourselves what they did with what&#8217;s basically a jacked up BMW 1 Series hatchback isn&#8217;t all that bad.<br />
<span id="more-331"></span><br />
The most important part of the new kit is easily observable from a distance as the new wheels are now 20 inch Classic 2 multi-spoke setup.</p>
<p>Past that Hartge gives the BMW X1 another visual presence as the suspension kit is 30 mm lower to the ground than before and a new black decal is on the side.</p>
<figure id="attachment_334" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-334" style="width: 520px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Hartge-BMW-X1-2.jpg" rel="lightbox-1"><img decoding="async" src="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Hartge-BMW-X1-2.jpg" alt="Hartge BMW X1" width="520" height="390" class="size-full wp-image-334" srcset="https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Hartge-BMW-X1-2.jpg 920w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Hartge-BMW-X1-2-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Hartge-BMW-X1-2-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Hartge-BMW-X1-2-320x240.jpg 320w" sizes="(max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-334" class="wp-caption-text">Hartge BMW X1</figcaption></figure>
<p>With that you can see what&#8217;s the name of the tuner that created the Hartge BMW X1 and, from some angles, give the crossover another design line.</p>
<p>The BMW X1 also gets an engine upgrade for its diesel powerplant. The German tuner tweaked the 2.0 liter diesel four pot in the xDrive18d and xDrive20d.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s now 179 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque for the 18d and a more respectable 207 horsepower and torque output reaches 307 lb-ft with the 20d.</p>
<figure id="attachment_335" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-335" style="width: 520px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Hartge-BMW-X1-3.jpg" rel="lightbox-2"><img decoding="async" src="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Hartge-BMW-X1-3.jpg" alt="Hartge BMW X1" width="520" height="390" class="size-full wp-image-335" srcset="https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Hartge-BMW-X1-3.jpg 920w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Hartge-BMW-X1-3-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Hartge-BMW-X1-3-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Hartge-BMW-X1-3-320x240.jpg 320w" sizes="(max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-335" class="wp-caption-text">Hartge BMW X1</figcaption></figure>
<p>The top speed limiter still stands at 130 mph as it is on all X1 BMW models but the acceleration times was slashed by nearly one second with that update.</p>
