With so much to pick from and so many people competing to be different, it’s not wonder to hear about some of them screw up big time on these ideas.

F30 BMW 3 Series with H&R suspension

This tends to happen quite often when it comes to styling yet we’ve seen plenty of mistakes for the technical side as well.

We love the technical side as BMW fans, especially when it’s done right and you end up with a pig-like handling machine with the beloved badge.

If you want to get handling done right, there’s just a few names out there that you can call upon. If you don’t like the sound of KW Suspension, you’ll be calling upon H&R Springs.

F30 BMW 3 Series with H&R suspension

Their new package is showcased on the F30 335i, the more powerful of the 3 Series current lineup and sports a price of $1.680.

For that kind of money you get an adjustable kit which can range in drop between 1.5 and 2.6 inches for the front and 1.3 to 2.3 for the rear.

With the new bits, H&R Springs decided to go for a new set of brakes, a set of 20 inch O.Z. Ultraleggera HLT wheels and a new set of tires.

F30 BMW 3 Series with H&R suspension

All that extra sporty feeling will make great use of the Michelin Super Sport tires that offer so much more grip than the standard setup.

So am I and so many people are actually impressed by what the car has to give that the tuning business isn’t really bothering too much with upgrading it in an exaggerated fashion.

In fact, most of the packages we get to see are so light that the alloy wheels are what’s going to be changed and if there is a body kit to consider, it’s usually borrowed.

The one here is the brainchild of K3 Projekt wheels and though the aesthetics have been altered, they’re signed by a different company.

iND is the company behind the front rear bumpers and the side skirts. Covering up the whole thing is a new Estoril Blue paint.

F30 BMW 3 Series by K3 Projekt Wheels

Quite the eye poping shade, and those BC Racing BR type coilovers serve up quite the suspension drop. You couldn’t tell this was an American conceived tune-up, could you?

Going for the full honors, the marketing folk at K3 Projekt Wheels even tell us they’ve fitted a BMS JB4 Stage 1 Tune, whatever that is.

At least the 20 inch alloy wheel setup we get and the Pirelli P-Zero tires are a must for anybody who’s at least a tiny bit serious about keeping the performance factor in the equation.

F30 BMW 3 Series by K3 Projekt Wheels

Those wheels are built in house and look just about stunning without appearing to have any kind of effort, without any explanation needed or any apologies available.

One of the most restrained tuners to ever mess around with a BMW, the Germans at Hartge, have shifted one up with the F30 3 Series.

Just like they’ve previously updated the F30 328i earlier in the year they’ve now turned to the beefier 3.0 liter straight six cylinder engine in the 335i.

Hartge F30 BMW 335i

To begin with, it’s important to mention that fuel economy has not been overseen on this tune-up, even if the power is where the fun is at.

Speaking of which, when you get into an F30 BMW 335i you’ll find that the custom acceleration pedal unleashes a total of 362 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque.

That’s actually 50 horsepower more than the previous generation BMW M3 and 60 more torques than the current edition.

Take a good look at just what you can expect from this sort of engine:

After that sort of power goes under your bonnet, you may want to have people notice the changes even when they’re not being overtaken.

That’s how you’ll end up in front of the options list and you’ll nearly get in trouble. We all know that BMW floor mats are really expensive, you can imagine Hartge charges quite a bit for theirs.

And the same school of thought is found in the set of 20 inch lightweight alloy wheels and whatever other interior trim you will spec up.

Overall, Hartge’s F30 335i comes with no surprises and it’s not really that expensive compared to other performance tunes.

Just keep tabs on the options.

I don’t know where these tuners keep coming from these days but I can’t say that I’m complaining about the efforts of the newcomers. Alpha-N Performance, for example, have just announced their BT92 project. It’s based on the E92 BMW 3 Series Coupe, particularly the 335i version.

I don’t know where these tuners keep coming from these days but I can’t say that I’m complaining about the efforts of the newcomers.

Alpha-N Performance, for example, have just announced their BT92 project. It’s based on the E92 BMW 3 Series Coupe, particularly the 335i version.

The BT92 will be receiving engine upgrades, handling aids and a revised exterior look with plenty of weight reduction components included in the mix.

Starting with the engine, the 3.0 liter turbocharged straight six receives a new turbo, a new intercooler, a remapped ECU and a sport exhaust system with mid mounted tailpipes.

Alpha-N Performance BT92 BMW 335i Coupe

The end result sees the Alpha-N Performance BT92 develop 450 horsepower, pretty much the same amount of grunt estimated to be held by the next generation of the M3.

Handling updates come in the form of a KW coilover suspension, new 19 inch alloys and Hankook performance tires.

Another major contribution here will belong to the revised high-performance brakes and the 551 lbs that was shaved off the final weight.

As you’d imagine, that much lost weight, even after the fitting of a rollcage means that most of the interior was taken out, the seats are now Recaro buckets and even the steering wheel is lighter.

Alpha-N Performance BT92 BMW 335i Coupe

The exterior panels are also pretty impressive since they’ve been reshaped to aid the air flowing over, under and around the BMW 335i Coupe.

Currently the kit is still under development but Alpha-N Performance have already won a special place in my heart.
