The M3’s standard 4.0 liter naturally aspirated V8 engine is a pretty cool proposition and will outperform justa bout any usual request it is faced with.

When you mess around with high end German tuners showing off for the current Essen Motor Show it’s not even good enough for a base setup.

The guys at Manhart merely chucked it all out and replaced it with chunkier, more modern BMW sourced V8, namely the 4.4 liter twin-turbocharged unit out of the X6 M.

Manhart MH3 V8 R Biturbo E93 BMW M3

It’s something that usually provides more than sufficient tork to lug around something weighing in at nearly twice the M3.

Even so, it felt like it wasn’t enough so the ECU and turbos receive a bit of a going over in order to produce a total of 655 horsepower and 719 lb-ft of torque.

The gearbox and rear diff receive some strengthening in order to handle all that grunt. The ideal is unusual but the removal of the max speed makes it all worth it.

Manhart MH3 V8 R Biturbo E93 BMW M3

The Manhart MH3 V8 R Biturbo can hit a top speed of 199 mph. It almost certainly can accelerate some way or another but that colossal torque is a problem for launches.

On this occasion it’s the E93 version that grabs center stage, meaning we’re looking at the convertible version of the glorious M3.

K3 Projekt Wheels is the tuning company which came up with this one and, perhaps predictably, they’ve tweaked just about everything around a single item.

Unfortunately, it is not the engine. It’s actually the new 20 inch wheel set of light alloys the M3 gets all around.

K3 Projekt Wheels E93 BMW M3

Variations do occur between the frond the rear as the exact dimensions come in at 20×9 front and 20×11 rear with tires similarly proportioned.

Tires wrapped around these wheels come from an unnamed manufacturer which probably specializes in bikninis since they’re so small and interesting.

The actual setup calls for 245/30/20 at the front and 285/25/20 at the rear. Wheels and tires aside, making the car look even better with these modifications is a new suspension setup.

K3 Projekt Wheels E93 BMW M3

A KW coilover package was employed in order to lower the car and make it look as sporty as possible but that didn’t really cut it.

It was only after the bumper kit went on that K3 Projekt Wheels got the desired effect. Again, nothing confirmed on who made the bumpers.

The possibilities are starting to really go wild in terms of tuning capabilities these days. Technology is no longer limited to the big wigs who’ve got loads of money.

Relatively small companies like the guys at KW Suspensions have recently unveiled their crowning achievement in terms of body control.

E93 BMW 3 Series KW coilover

The stainless steel KW DDC ECU coilover kit comes with all the speed capabilities of an aftermarket setup but has none of the drawbacks.

This is because they’ve finally cracked the adjustability features on this product and they can genuinely offer the same range between track days and the road to and from there.

Usually, to adjust these settings you’d have to be very handy with a wrench or have a dedicated mechanic for this stuff.

E93 BMW 3 Series KW coilover

Now though, it’s back to buttons for all those who have a E9x 3 Series BMW and effortless changes. Further more, there’s even an app you can use to make a wireless change to your setup.

When you go through your phone or tablet, you can adjust the dampers individually, save setups and so on. If you’re a less involved person, you get a knob to shift between Comfort, Sport and Sport+ like you would in anything M division.

BMW’s 3 Series first got this KW suspension kit adjusted to its E91 estate version and it is now available for the more entertaining E92/93 two door versions.

The coilover kit allows you to adjust both the harshness of the suspension and the ride height, by as much as 60 mm depending on the model you fit it to.

A nice example here is ATT-TEC Tuning, a company which decide to breathe some extra life into the E93 BMW M3 Convertible.

A dark foil wrap, a lowered suspension and new 20 inch forged alloy wheels wrapped in Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta tires make for a very aggressive look.

The two tone black, the decals and the point spokes on the wheels make the M3 look very badass, but is it? Well, the standard car isn’t really.

ATT-TEC BMW M3 Convertible

That’s why the guys at ATT-TEC went over to G-Power and bought a supercharger kit. That’s how the 4.0 liter V8 now gets some considerable boost.

Final output for the E93 M3 convertible stands at 520 horsepower which is 100 more than the standard one.

Just to make sure people know the sort of grunt that lies under your bonnet, a sports exhaust kit is also there to make some noise.

ATT-TEC BMW M3 Convertible

You’re likely to enjoy the sound yourself as well but that’s another story. As is the price you’ll have to pay to get one of these ATT-TEC conversions.

The entire kit comes in at roughly 35.000 USD which is the cost of quite the capable second car. You can even get some specially prepped trackday motors for that money.
