What’s the best way to have a different looking car? Surely, you have to paint it in an original color. Or, at least, wrap it in a color full of personality. Well, that’s what these guys did: they took a BMW X5M and dressed it in blue. Not any kind of blue, but a Long Beach Blue-like, to transform it in a proper M-version of the X5 model.

Who are these guys? European Auto Source is their name, and they are known as trusted BMW tuners. They chose a new set of wheels, which joins the two colors of the body: black and blue. Under the car, there’s a new, louder Eisenmann Race exhaust system, which adds some ponies to the 575 stud of horses.

The exhaust is the only modification brought to the V8, twin-turbo engine, so we expect a torque in the vicinity of the original 750 Nm, and an acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h of 4.2 seconds, just like the factory version.

So, do you like it? I must admit that I’m still looking at it, and I can’t decide what I feel. It looks interesting, but it’s a little too flashy for my tastes. However, when you pay about $100.000 for a car, you have all the right to personalize it however you wish, without wondering what others think about it.

Let’s take some of the most iconic supercars of the moment: the most powerful Ferrari that can be registered, the F12 Berlinetta, produces exactly the same power as this X5. Then, the most powerful Lamborghini, which is the Aventador SV 6.5 V12, is capable of developing 750 hp. However, none of the two can climb the Everest.

Anyway, we’re talking about an SUV capable of beating most of the sports cars in a lap on Nurburgring. But just how fast was the original BMW X5 M? It’s pretty damn fast from the beginning: it does 100 km/h in only 4.2 seconds, thanks to its 575 hp and 750 Nm.

Now, what improvements could bring 165 hp and 230 Nm of torque more? Obviously, a lot! However, G-Power didn’t made public all the numbers. They only said that the top speed is somewhere over 300 km/h barrier, while the quarter of mile takes 11,5 seconds.

That’s a half of a second faster than the 2015 F10 BMW M5! It’s even 0.3 seconds faster than the iconic Ferrari F40! So, it’s seriously fast. To be in line with the true supersport champions, the engineers replaced the stock exhaust, with a special bespoke titanium one, the superchargers with bigger ones, the downpipes and upgraded the software, with a Bi-Tronik 2 V3 one.

New GX6M –RS coilover suspension, 11.0×23 inch Hurricane RR forged alloy wheels and 325/25R23 tires keep the car on track.

Here, the BMW X5M owner asked the local tuner to take little care of his brand new beauty. Therefore, Baan Velgen did all he could to transform the fast SUV into a good-looking, loud, fast one. And he succeeded!

He started with the rims, replacing the original set with a new 21 inch one, made by HRE. Their satin black finish is also perfectly suited to the silvery body. Surely, he also had the option of adding a 22 inch wheels, same model, but it would become exaggerated. Although, looking at the price, for an extra $100 per wheel ($2600 for the 21” vs. $2700 for the 22“), I think I would prefer the bigger ones.

Anyway, the car looks very homogeneous in this version. But looking good it’s not enough. A proper Bimmer must sing its symphony through its exhaust. And this X5M interprets a magnificent tune, thanks to the Akrapovic Evolution exhaust system! Its price: $6715. Its sound? Priceless! It’s made entirely of titanium and the sound it delivers is the irrefutable proof.

It also helps the car accelerate faster and it’s lighter than the original. All these make it look spectacular. But none of these characteristics would be important if it wouldn’t sound mean. And it does, when the valves are opened. Its dual personality is what makes it perfect for every environment, and that’s what I like most! So turn up the volume and let yourself flooded by the delightful sound of the 8 cylinders, coming through the exhaust!
