<p>If you have managed to get yourself an older generation E85 model and you still have some money lying around to spare, you can easily get some serious bang for your buck.</p>
<figure id="attachment_1577" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-1577" style="width: 520px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/AC-Schnitzer-ACS4-E85-BMW-Z4-1.jpg" rel="lightbox-0"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" src="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/AC-Schnitzer-ACS4-E85-BMW-Z4-1.jpg" alt="AC Schnitzer ACS4 E85 BMW Z4" width="520" height="362" class="size-full wp-image-1577" srcset="https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/AC-Schnitzer-ACS4-E85-BMW-Z4-1.jpg 969w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/AC-Schnitzer-ACS4-E85-BMW-Z4-1-300x209.jpg 300w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/AC-Schnitzer-ACS4-E85-BMW-Z4-1-768x535.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-1577" class="wp-caption-text">AC Schnitzer ACS4 E85 BMW Z4</figcaption></figure>
<p>There are quite a few modifications you can do for yourself but there&#8217;s also some packages you can get from seriously big names in the industry.<br />
<span id="more-1576"></span><br />
It wasn&#8217;t so long ago that German tuner AC Schnitzer were making their ACS4 kit for the E85 BMW Z4 and they weren&#8217;t very expensive.</p>
<p>Prices ranged depending on what you wanted to do, they would even make parts for the somewhat rarer coupe version of your car.</p>
<figure id="attachment_1578" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-1578" style="width: 520px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/AC-Schnitzer-ACS4-E85-BMW-Z4-2.jpg" rel="lightbox-1"><img decoding="async" src="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/AC-Schnitzer-ACS4-E85-BMW-Z4-2.jpg" alt="AC Schnitzer ACS4 E85 BMW Z4" width="520" height="294" class="size-full wp-image-1578" srcset="https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/AC-Schnitzer-ACS4-E85-BMW-Z4-2.jpg 969w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/AC-Schnitzer-ACS4-E85-BMW-Z4-2-300x170.jpg 300w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/AC-Schnitzer-ACS4-E85-BMW-Z4-2-768x434.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-1578" class="wp-caption-text">AC Schnitzer ACS4 E85 BMW Z4</figcaption></figure>
<p>In terms of performance, there&#8217;s not much to consider. The ACS4 kit only comes with a 3.91 : 1 rear axle ratio and some aero tweaks.</p>
<p>The ratio change improves acceleration at the detriment of top speed whereas the aerodynamics only really work at the higher end.</p>
<p>Perhaps you should focus on the aesthetic bits for your E85 BMW Z4 and think about stuff like wheel and tire setups rather than anything else.</p>
<figure id="attachment_1579" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-1579" style="width: 520px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/AC-Schnitzer-ACS4-E85-BMW-Z4-3.jpg" rel="lightbox-2"><img decoding="async" src="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/AC-Schnitzer-ACS4-E85-BMW-Z4-3.jpg" alt="AC Schnitzer ACS4 E85 BMW Z4" width="520" height="368" class="size-full wp-image-1579" srcset="https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/AC-Schnitzer-ACS4-E85-BMW-Z4-3.jpg 950w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/AC-Schnitzer-ACS4-E85-BMW-Z4-3-300x213.jpg 300w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/AC-Schnitzer-ACS4-E85-BMW-Z4-3-768x544.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-1579" class="wp-caption-text">AC Schnitzer ACS4 E85 BMW Z4</figcaption></figure>
<p>You can have 20 inch alloy wheels, performance tires and, if you really feel like it, a set of upgraded brakes. These are very difficult to justify when there&#8217;s no added performance and you&#8217;re on a budget.</p>
<p>Either way, an AC Schnitzer BMW will still have presence when it comes to rolling around town, not race tracks.</p>

<p>It was expensive, handled pretty shoddily and pretty much did two things right, the styling and used the V8 engine that was put in the E39 M5.</p>
<figure id="attachment_847" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-847" style="width: 520px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/BMW-Z8-1.jpg" rel="lightbox-0"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/BMW-Z8-1.jpg" alt="BMW Z8" width="520" height="390" class="size-full wp-image-847" srcset="https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/BMW-Z8-1.jpg 1280w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/BMW-Z8-1-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/BMW-Z8-1-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/BMW-Z8-1-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/BMW-Z8-1-320x240.jpg 320w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-847" class="wp-caption-text">BMW Z8</figcaption></figure>
<p>Apart from that it was a flop. However, the car has always got itself a soft spot with customers or BMW enthusiasts even if it was for being the odd one.<br />
<span id="more-846"></span><br />
The soft spot is also extended to the customized versions made by companies like AC Schnitzer. Their version gets very few visible changes.</p>
<p>The lines and some of the lighting fixtures have been changed by the German tuner in such a discrete fashion that even when looking at both cars at the same time it&#8217;s hard to tell the difference.</p>
<figure id="attachment_848" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-848" style="width: 520px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/BMW-Z8-2.jpg" rel="lightbox-1"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/BMW-Z8-2.jpg" alt="BMW Z8" width="520" height="390" class="size-full wp-image-848" srcset="https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/BMW-Z8-2.jpg 1280w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/BMW-Z8-2-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/BMW-Z8-2-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/BMW-Z8-2-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/BMW-Z8-2-320x240.jpg 320w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-848" class="wp-caption-text">BMW Z8</figcaption></figure>
<p>At least that&#8217;s what some would like to know but in reality AC Schnitzer offer some completely superficial changes everywhere round.</p>
<p>You can have new wheel sets, new floor mats, different handbrake covers, a new gear shift knob and some aluminium pedals.</p>
<p>In truth, AC Schnitzer do offer a full suspension kit for the BMW Z8 but that&#8217;s about it.</p>
<figure id="attachment_849" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-849" style="width: 520px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/BMW-Z8-3.jpg" rel="lightbox-2"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="http://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/BMW-Z8-3.jpg" alt="BMW Z8" width="520" height="390" class="size-full wp-image-849" srcset="https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/BMW-Z8-3.jpg 1600w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/BMW-Z8-3-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/BMW-Z8-3-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/BMW-Z8-3-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.bmwcartuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/BMW-Z8-3-320x240.jpg 320w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-849" class="wp-caption-text">BMW Z8</figcaption></figure>
<p>We&#8217;d say that their alloy wheel selection is compatible with some high performance tires but seriously, these days you can get custom wheels for just about any car and any tire.</p>
<p>It would seem then that the BMW Z8 continued on its way of rebellion even when tuned by a completely different company.</p>
