First, this F22 BMW 2-Series is proud to sport a double pivot spring strut at the front suspension, which provides the model with more performance and precise handling. Thus, the model is pretty agile in tight corners thanks to the high-performance handling and steering.

Second, the guys from Turner Motorsport aftermarket shop have chosen the high-performance 2.0-liter turbo N20 four-cylinder unit, which develops 240 horsepower and 255 lb-ft of torque, meaning that it reaches 100 km/h in around 5.0 seconds.

But the engine is powerful also thanks to some mods, like the fitting of the BMW`s precision direct injection or the the Double Vanos and Valvetronic configurations.

Both of them come from the E92 family and both of them had been tweaked by Turner Motorsport. The cars are totally different though.

One of them is simply titled the Frozen Grey M3. It’s not the limited edition product from BMW but one seriously modded toy.

Being Will Turner’s personal car, the thing is a street car but the American tuner oriented itself properly on handling, having fitted only a small power boost.

The 4.2 liter V8 engine is only adjusted up to 535 horsepower. That’s a boost of 25% but it is still less than a whole lot of tune-ups we’ve seen.

Fitting a KW DDC suspension kit, upgraded wheel & tire setup and then opting for a set of brakes that are simply as close to racing units as you can get is what amazes Farah.

Well, maybe impresses him. Amazement is what happens when he steps into the Turner Motorsport M3 racer. This is where he drives a Continental Tire Series Championship winning car.

It’s the car that Bill Auberlin and Paul Dalla Lana drive these days and it is brilliant. The only problem here is the conditions of the review.

Because the very same car was going to race a couple of days after the shoot, caution was at the top of the priority list.

Even driving ridiculously slowly, a man who’s driven thousand horsepower cars was completely impressed with the setup.

It’s a brand new suspension kit. That sounds pretty remarkable and though the suspension kit is developed for the BMW 1 Series, it’ isn’t really fitted to one.

The model that actually gets the tweaked suspension is the BMW Active E all-electric version. This changes a few things.

Apart from making it impossible to fit a sports exhaust system, the suspension should really make for best use of its power delivery.

Who says that a short blast around the suburbs can’t be more enjoyed by a suspension so stiff it can shake your kidneys off their mountings.

I suppose the 18 inch wheels with stickier rubber will also make the handling a tad more uncomfortable. Oh and there’s another thing.

Eco tires being replaced by grippy sports ones always decreases the fuel economy of a car and when it comes to an electric one like the BMW ActiveE that’s not good news.

An already limited range being further chopped down seems like a bit of an issue even if you’re a fan of the short drive and the long recharge.

Still, while Turner Motorsport’s idea seems like a shoddy one, the coilover and handling kit of the BMW ActiveE actually has a different kind of importance.

It shows us that in the future, electric cars can be tweaked and that there’s no need to put up with a little eco-box.
