German tuner Hartge has just rolled out a new tuning kit, one they’ve prepared especially for the BMW X3 xDrive35d.

What I find particularly interesting about it is that we don’t get any flamboyant press release. There’s no announcement, no shouting launch or anything of the likes.

Hartge BMW X3 xDrive35d

Though it’s a bit of a shame, that’s a brilliant idea. Not all tuning cars should be obvious and BMW products certainly shouldn’t fit the bill for flamboyance.

Since this is the diesel engine, that appeal of flamboyance goes away even further so there’s really no reason for making a fuss.

Despite it being a diesel powerplant, Hartge messed around with its innards a bit in order to produce 362 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque.

Hartge BMW X3 xDrive35d

Quite the decent figures for a diesel but we should say that Hartge carefully “forgot” to mention the exact fuel economy the model gets with the new updates.

All we get is a rather uncertain “around half a liter/100 km” so around 35 mpg on the US cycle should still be available from it.

In terms of exterior changes you get almost none. Hartge will provide you with a set of 19 inch alloy wheels (four options are available) and new badges but that’s about it.

That’s not a bad way to go round at it since the F25 BMW X3 looks more than decent for a crossover. The same happens inside.

Hartge BMW X3 xDrive35d

All you get new for the cabin is a set of aluminium panels, custom floor mats and, of course, the optional set of Hartge badges.

It all sounds rather good but we hope to get more photos and details about the Hartge BMW X3 xDrive35d pretty soon.

Thus, the desire to make it stand out is a little more important for the customizing scene so the BMW X3’s presence might not be worthy of a second look.

With the performance aspects being first to considered it’s rather unusual to see the German tuner focus on the diesel powerplants first.

The 2.0d version goes from a standard 184 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque to 218 horsepower and the 3.0d version goes from 258 horsepower to 413 lb-ft of torque.

AC Schnitzer BMW X3

So the BMW X3 gets more grunt under the bonnet without compromising its fuel economy but somehow, AC Schnitzer still didn’t tell us too much about the petrol ones.

New alloy wheels between 18 and 22 inches are available, along with new tires but no word on suspension changes are mentioned.

If I’m honest that’s a pretty good think. Losing some of the comfort with the wheels is already enough, we don’t need an even harder suspension than the one BMW fits at the factory.

AC Schnitzer BMW X3

What I do approve of however is the AC Schnitzer redesigned aerodynamic setup. It consists of a full body kit a new rear window spoiler.

The whole thing looks great, and the AC Schnitzer decals that sitting on the rear doors are well appointed.
