AC Schnitzer gave the BMW 1 Series an updated tuning kit which much like most of the packages for the Bavarian hatchback is pretty restrained.
It was originally unveiled at last year’s Essen Motor Show and it remained a constant option. We’re guessing that the customer interest was rightfully chosen.
The F20 BMW 1 Series wears its modification set very well and AC Schnitzer remain quietly confident in not updating it for a while.
Brand new 18 or 19 inch wheels are available and they’re teamed with a fresh and linearly done body kit.
The new twin exhaust tip, the new rear spoiler make an even more important appearance change in the new look of the 1 Series than the graphics package on the sides.
Or maybe that’s just me hating on the sticker part of a tuner car. Call me heartless but I consider the lines of the car are established by metal, fiberglass or any actual building material.
What makes me a little disappointed is that the German tuner hasn’t kept its promise. They told us several months ago that they would update the performance of all the engines.
Even so, we’re still looking down the list and only the diesels produce more power. As it is the list stands at the 118d producing 171 horsepower and the 120d having 210 horsepower available.
The F20 BMW 1 Series is still decently modified as it gets a redesigned suspension and a refreshed interior which is more than shuffling a few colors around.
We’re told its a change of materials as well and that the gearbox even tells you what gear you’re in via a special shifter knob.
