There’s a whole world of people out there who simply love the standard version of the BMW 1 Series M Coupe. The world is also filled with tuners who think they can improve it.
So far we’ve yet to see any of them ruin the compact sports car and we seriously doubt that the version we see here, created by Tuningwerk is the first one to fail.
The German tuner turned the little coupe into a miniature racer and then they’ve gone on to give it BMW racing colors. How could that possibly go wrong?
Apart from being painted in the traditional BMW war colors, the Tuningwerk 1 Series M Coupe also has Safety Car written on it without any particular competitions being announced.
Maybe they’re working on the paperwork to obtain clear notification of how that might actually become a reality soon.
What is already here is the modified turbochargers, cooling, exhaust and an ECU remap. Put all these together and the 3.0 liter straight six engine now develops 528 horsepower and 453 lb-ft of torque.
That’s so much, we’re not even getting a 0 to 62 time. All we know is that now, the top speed stands at 186 mph. And this is with all of the added downforce.
The latter comes from a revised body kit and a sizable new rear wing. Helping handling even more than that is a set of new tires, light wheels and a brake upgrade.
Finally, the handling and safety cake gets a cherry on top in optional form. If you feel you can do away with the rear seats, Tuningwerk will give you a full rollcage for this lovely little car.
