When you think of BMW, you think of the various models the automaker has to offer. Some are elegant, some are fast and some try to combine the best of both worlds. The second-generation X1 is the result of perfect balance between elegance and speed. It is, without a doubt, one of the most popular models BMW has to offer. The folks over at Dahler tuning decided to do what they do best, and came up with a series of upgrades with the sole purpose of improving the already successful BMW formula.

With the second-generation X1, Dahler has concentrated mostly on engine upgrades. As a result the various renditions of the X1 have seen their performance increased by an average of 25HP. The X1, regardless of the specific variant, was already a powerful vehicle. It is an agile vehicle. The fact that it’s designed to operate in almost all types of road and weather conditions makes the vehicle even more desirable.

The engine modifications brought by Dahler are without a doubt the tuner’s attempt to release this particular model’s full potential. As a result, the second-generation X1 seems to have become even more powerful. Without a doubt, those seeking to improve their second-generation X1 should definitely take into consideration the upgrade packages offered by Dahler. You can tell that a lot of work went into finding the perfect upgrades in order to turn the X1 into a car that is even more refined.

Of course, the upgrade couldn’t be complete without the addition of a couple of visual upgrades. Dahler has decided to add a set of 20” rims to the package, as well as a brand new set of springs. The addition of a new exhaust system contributes both to the increase of performance and the X1’s new look. The sound is also quite remarkable. The packages offered by Dahler for the second-generation X1 are definitely worth the money.

The second-generation BMW X1 builds on the success of its predecessor. It is a fast and refined vehicle. Dahler decided to take the BMW X1 to a whole new level, offering its owners the unleashed potential of this small beast. The offered upgrades are worth every last penny. The result will, no doubt, convince even the most skeptics of customers. It remains to be seen what other upgrades Dahler has planned for the rest of the BMW X models.

Naturally, after this monster X3 was done, we all wondered which model would be next to benefit from the engine tune. And our answer came in the form of the BMW X1, the xDrive20i version.

Just like the X3, the X1 was tuned by the guys at Hartge for the sole purpose of power gains. And again, the result didn’t fail to impress. The original model sports the N20 engine, a 2.0 liter, 4 cylinder unit capable of churning out some 184 Hp and 270 Nm of torque.

Enter Hartge and their engine tune, and now the xDrive20i is able to produce 220 Hp and 325 Nm of torque, making for a 36 Hp/ 55 Nm increase. As the X3, this power is best displayed at higher speed, as the acceleration from 80 km/h to 200 km/h has dropped down 13.62 seconds, to 27.24 seconds.
This is especially true for the SUVs and off-roaders, where big bulky wheels not only help tackle the terrain but also send a message.

Delta4x4 wheels for BMW X1

So what kind of message does delta4x4 send with their new offer? I can’t speak for you, but when I look at the wheels and tires fitted to the BMW X1, I get mixed feelings. On one hand, it seems to fit in well with the small German SUV, but on the other hand, the wheels scream “old” while the rest of the cars has a nice “new” vibe to it.

Delta4x4 wheels for BMW X1

The kit from delta4x4 will cost 3.790 EUR and for that money you will get the forged Master Piece rims draped in Michelin 265/45R18 tires. But before you install them, you might also want to raise the BMW X1 a bit, and you can do that with a lift kit that will set you back 498 EUR.

The Germans at Hamann Motorsports Tuning have, over time, prepared what’s possibly the best thought out version of the X1 crossover ever to be offered to the public.

Being Germans, they probably couldn’t let themselves screw it up so they looked into every aspect of the BMW X1 and tried to improve or add some individuality to it.

Hamann BMW X1

That’s why they offer a new look for the exterior, updated interior accessories, a tweaked suspension setup and even some power upgrades for all the engines in the range.

The exterior look is a mere refinement moment rather than a flamboyant wide body kit and, as a result, is pretty self explanatory.

We might as well focus on the technical stuff while we’re at it. The suspension was revised with new springs and features a 30 mm drop. Unfortunately, this is only available for the xDrive models.

Hamann BMW X1

Thankfully, the new look is well complemented by new sets of alloy wheels, all of which measure in at 20 inches and come with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 or Continental Sport Contact 5P tires.

And now we can get to the engine, the BMW X1’s sDrive18d and xDrive18d versions get their engine upgraded from 143 to 177 horsepower.

One class higher, the sDrive20d / xDrive20d can go from the 177 standard ponies to 210 whereas the xDrive23d goes from 203 to 249 horsepower.

Hamann BMW X1

Finally, the most exciting choice in the range, the BMW X1 xDrive28i goes from the standard 258 horsepower to 275.

All of these changes are achieved via the optimizing of the ECU curves and also come with some modest improvements in the torque figure.

BMW just refreshed the smaller brother of their SAV lineup and they will soon be selling it in the United States so the X1 has just gone over a bit of a makeover.

The thing is, before the Bavarians refreshed their product, there have been quite a few examples of other companies doing it.

Hartge BMW X1

Hartge Tuning is one of them and reminding ourselves what they did with what’s basically a jacked up BMW 1 Series hatchback isn’t all that bad.

The most important part of the new kit is easily observable from a distance as the new wheels are now 20 inch Classic 2 multi-spoke setup.

Past that Hartge gives the BMW X1 another visual presence as the suspension kit is 30 mm lower to the ground than before and a new black decal is on the side.

Hartge BMW X1

With that you can see what’s the name of the tuner that created the Hartge BMW X1 and, from some angles, give the crossover another design line.

The BMW X1 also gets an engine upgrade for its diesel powerplant. The German tuner tweaked the 2.0 liter diesel four pot in the xDrive18d and xDrive20d.

It’s now 179 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque for the 18d and a more respectable 207 horsepower and torque output reaches 307 lb-ft with the 20d.

Hartge BMW X1

The top speed limiter still stands at 130 mph as it is on all X1 BMW models but the acceleration times was slashed by nearly one second with that update.

A new body kit consists of a fresh front bumper, different sideskirts and a new rear bumper. All of these make quite the basis for aggression with the CUV.

These changes are complemented by a lowered suspension kit and the option of having new alloy wheels ranging between 18 and 20 inches.
