Most people want to do as much as possible in order to turn their vehicle into a sportier version of itself. This is definitely something that has to do with one’s imagination. It is a great way of turning a vehicle into something unique, into something that belongs to you only. Unfortunately, this practice requires its owners to make certain compromises. Depending on how much you have to compromise, you may decide, at times, that changing your vehicle’s look or feel is not the best idea.

An example of a car that should have been left as it was is this particular BMW E36 3-Series, a vehicle that has been customized with a stunning wide body kit. This particular improvement gives the BMW a more aggressive look. The only available picture of this vehicle, however, shows the viewer something completely different. The picture captures the exact idea of compromises that are sometimes made in order to have a cool ride. For this particular example, the owner of the BMW E36 3-Series in the picture is forced to remove the rear fender of the added body kit every time he decides to stop for fuel.

As absurd as it may seem, some people are willing to accept such huge compromises in order to impress those around them with their ride. This is not necessarily something bad. If someone decides that they want to sacrifice their time for the sake of their beautiful vehicle, it’s their business. The absurdity of the matter comes from the fact that simple tasks, such as fuelling, are turned by some added upgrades into difficult to manage experiences. Is it worth it? For some it is, for some it is not. It all depends on how you see things. If you favor practicality, such upgrades are definitely not for you.

Taking a look at this particular photo of the BMW E36 3-Series reminds us that sometimes sacrifices are to be made if you want to own a really unique vehicle. While such upgrades may cause you a lot of trouble, the gained popularity might just make all that trouble worth it. There could be a chance that this particular BMW E36 3-Series owner is waiting for the right time to modify the rear fender of the body kit, so as to gain easier access to the fuel flap. We will probably never find out if this is the case.

Rellen’s BMW 3-Series E36 is a one of a kind machine. The vehicle has been completely reimagined. Both the exterior and interior have been reconfigured. What is amazing is the harmony between the two sides of the car. Rellen’s BMW E36 offers the complete package. It looks good, it sounds good, and it feels good. So how has Rellen changed this E36 from a common BMW E36 to a unique and powerful road beast? The list of upgrades is quite long.

The BMW 3-Series E36’s engine is a mix between a 320i and a 323i. At this point, the engine seems to be quite a powerhouse. There isn’t much else you could do to increase the vehicle’s performance. Rellen thinks otherwise. He plans on swapping the engine of the BMW with a V8 Lexus. Apart from increasing the car’s performance, such a move would also turn it into a one of a kind ride. Among other performance upgrades the BMW E36 sports a Shakotan style exhaust that further raises the BMW E36’s performance. Apart from improving the vehicle’s performance, the exhaust looks and sounds amazing.

On the visual side, Rellen has added to the BMW E36 a set of Felony Form overfenders as well as a set of 18 inch Cosmis Racing rims. The car’s lower suspension and the thin tires the rims are wrapped in make this BMW E36 one of the sleekest rides in Sweden. The car has been painted gray, while the rims have a unique black chrome finish. To complete the look, Rellen has fitted his ride with a 2 meter Musk Customs rear wing.

Regardless of how you look at this BMW 3-Series E36, you will immediately notice the amount of passion that has been put in this project build. The car is unique both on the inside and outside. It is a perfectly harmonious ride. Even though it looks radically different from its stock counterpart, Rellen’s BMW still possesses the Bavarian spirit the automaker has gotten us used with. Without a doubt, Rellen is the proud owner of one of the most special BMWs in Sweden, if not, the world.

The F30 335i variant from the 3-Series may not be compared with the top of the line M3, but it does share its aggressive lines and exquisite performance under the hood.

And to highlight its exquisite design and special rims it sits on, the German technicians from Vorsteiner tuner have added another one-off project to their impressive portfolio.

Even if the display of BMW products is quite impressive, it is always a pleasure to admire each program at the time, as it offers unique tuning features that enhance its personality and great look.

This particular model is wrapping the magnificent Melbourne Red body exterior which perfectly complement the new carbon fiver aero kit and the Vorsteiner`s Flow Forged alloy wheels.

Speaking of wheels fitting, the F30 335i can be now admired with the D-FF Flow Forged alloy wheels, measuring 18×8.5 at the front and 18×10 at the rear, and finished in Carbon Graphite and red center caps, it increase the car`s stance and aggressive attitude.

Underneath the skin, the F30 BMW 335i by Vorsteiner uses a 3.0-liter inline straight-six engine with BMW TwinPower Technology, with an output of 300 horsepower. The power is sent to the rear via an eight-speed STEPTRONIC automatic transmission with Adaptive Transmission Control (ATC).

The engine also comes with variable valve control (Double-VANOS and Valvetronic) and direct injection, which allow a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds, which is quite a performance. The top speed is also set at 250 km/h.

When you want a BMW it’s only natural that you want yourself a proper engine for it. Unless you’re a poser who got the 1.6 liter, you own the N55 3.0 liter.

Fitted to the E90 BMW 335i, this powerplant developes a smudge over 300 horsepower. What are you to do though, when that doesn’t become enough?

EAS E90 BMW 335i

If the budget allows you to replace the car, you could go for a new F30 335i, but if it doesn’t, all is not lost since there’s plenty of tuning kits for it.

European Auto Source, also known as EAS, have produced a new one, a package which seems to be perfect as it doesn’t compromise anything.

EAS will serve up the 3.0 liter twin-turbocharged powerplant with a new AFE intake, 3.5 inch catless downpipe from Burger Motorsports and JB4 Tune Stage 2.

EAS E90 BMW 335i

Summing them up, is quite spectacular since without any tampering with the turbos to create lag or similar problems you get extra power.

According to EAS, the gains amount to no less than 44 horsepower and 75 Nm of torque, at the rear wheels. That’s an increase of 15%, something you’d definitely feel beneath your right foot.

Making things even better for the budget concerned buyer, EAS have made a video to show us just how easy it is to fit the new package.

The wonders of bolt on have often been criticized, but in this case it’s really difficult to do so. This is one recommended bit that should be in any BMW 335i wanting for power.

The newer version of the 3 Series is a bit larger, much sharper looking and features new standards for refinement and performance.

F30 BMW 3 Series by Prior Design

Prior Design’s new package certainly keeps the refinement levels high. The design fits in perfectly and the craftsmanship is at some seriously good rankings.

What about the all important performance, how does it stack up once the Prior Design package now goes on? Is it still a sharp greyhound or has it started napping on the rug?

As the tuning company claims, the new kit was, erm, refined with aerodynamic principles in mind. That should help with stability and giving the driver confidence to push it.

F30 BMW 3 Series by Prior Design

Material used for this package is a blend of both thos factors. It’s high quality Dura-Flex plastic. The quality makes for refinement and the light weight helps performance.

By how much? It’s genuinely hard to tell but we have to appreciate that both changes will be marginal. It’s not like BMW uses coarse lead to build its bumpers.

Prior Design currently offer both bumpers, side skirts and a small rear wing. They can be purchased individually and summing it all up comes in at under 2000 euros.

F30 BMW 3 Series by Prior Design

The new alloy wheels displayed here are not part of the package (and they’re strikingly similar to some AMG units), they’re used to help the aesthetics of the F30 as much as possible.

You can easily tell when a tuning company is German. They don’t let anything go to chance. AC Schnitzer is a perfect example of this.

They’ve already tweaked the F30 BMW 3 Series and its F31 Touring version. Since then, BMW started offering M Sport packages on those models.

AC Schnitzer F31 BMW 3 Series Touring M Sport

Now, just because customers want to have such a package shouldn’t mean AC Schnitzer is excluded from being able to help their tuning efforts, right?

It makes very little sense by most accounts. But since AC Schnitzer is not the sort of company that specializes in running with the pack, they went that extra step further.

On top of the new lower body kit that comes fitted as the M Sport package, they’ve created some addons to help customers stand out as much as possible.

AC Schnitzer F31 BMW 3 Series Touring M Sport

They’ve adapted all of the ACS package to fit onto it. This means you get the same front splitters, the same roof spoiler and the same diffuser at the back.

Alongside these upgrades you get the same sort of wheel style choices AC Schnitzer usually offers alongside the crucial stickers.

Be they placed on the rear doors or on the tailgate as a final badging set, you really must have them installed. Surely that’s the final point, isn’t it?

AC Schnitzer F31 BMW 3 Series Touring M Sport

You don’t opt for such a comprehensive package of minute changes and want everybody to pass it by without knowing what you’re driving, do you?

If you will spec up the badge deletes, that’s awesome, good for you. Otherwise, you’re just forgetting that it’s an estate you are driving.

Nothing disturbing has been done to the exterior look of the car, or the interior for that matter, yet I’m getting completely mixed feelings about this car.

E30 BMW 3 Series with engine swap

Only one thing is responsible for this, and it’s not the new set of alloys that aren’t the first option to go to for a classic bimmer.

This car comes to us from the United States of America, namely from Columbus, Georgia, which is a bit of a hint as to what’s going on.

The original car was a 1987 BMW 325e sedan, which means it was powered by a creamy 2.7 liter straight six cylinder, naturally aspirated engine.

E30 BMW 3 Series with engine swap

While old, it’s still an interesting powerplant. Except in this case, it was thrown out and replaced by a considerably larger engine.

It is actually a 302 cubic inch Ford engine. That’s a nearly twice as large 5.0 liter V8 unit which was sourced from a 1997 Mercury Mounaineer.

That shouldn’t be the first choice. Or the second. Or the third one, so why go for it? Simply put? Because of the budget.

E30 BMW 3 Series with engine swap

When you fit an old car, with an engine that’s not quite so old yet still has 110.000 miles on it, it is obvious that you weren’t going to afford much more.

You can do the work, get a salvaged engine and have reliable wheels for a few years still to come. It also means it produces 260-280 rear-wheel horsepower and more than 300lb-ft of torque.

With so much to pick from and so many people competing to be different, it’s not wonder to hear about some of them screw up big time on these ideas.

This tends to happen quite often when it comes to styling yet we’ve seen plenty of mistakes for the technical side as well.

We love the technical side as BMW fans, especially when it’s done right and you end up with a pig-like handling machine with the beloved badge.

If you want to get handling done right, there’s just a few names out there that you can call upon. If you don’t like the sound of KW Suspension, you’ll be calling upon H&R Springs.

F30 BMW 3 Series with H&R suspension

Their new package is showcased on the F30 335i, the more powerful of the 3 Series current lineup and sports a price of $1.680.

For that kind of money you get an adjustable kit which can range in drop between 1.5 and 2.6 inches for the front and 1.3 to 2.3 for the rear.

With the new bits, H&R Springs decided to go for a new set of brakes, a set of 20 inch O.Z. Ultraleggera HLT wheels and a new set of tires.

F30 BMW 3 Series with H&R suspension

All that extra sporty feeling will make great use of the Michelin Super Sport tires that offer so much more grip than the standard setup.

I reckon Alpina have gotten too close to BMW in their way of developing new cars. The specialist tuner is now testing its cars in the same manner as the Bavarian giant.

We don’t get to see them release a new car pretty much all of the sudden and enjoy it properly. Oh no, we now have to go through the annoying teasing scene.

F30 Alpina B3 spied

Enter a set of spyshots caught of the F30 BMW 3 Series. Yes, I know it has been released for a long time now but this is the Alpina version, the B3.

Judging by the low amount of camouflage on the body of the car, the F30 Alpina B3 probably won’t receive too many styling updates.

As the previous version got us used to, the exterior look will be simply enhanced.

F30 Alpina B3 spied

The alloys will also be swapped out for some Alpina specific units and there are a few other traditional details we expect to see happen on the new B3.

We’re almost certain to only see the automatic transmission used in the B3 and we’re also expecting the performance tune-up to be seriously consistent.

There’s no interested party that rates the future output of the N55 3.0 liter turbocharged engine at less than 400 horsepower.

F30 Alpina B3 spied

We also know the upcoming F80 M3 won’t have that much more than 400 horsepower so the engine output should be quite similar between the two.

These two cars won’t be rivals by any measure. The Alpina B3 will make performance more accessible whereas the the M3 will make more performance accessible.

In fact, most of the packages we get to see are so light that the alloy wheels are what’s going to be changed and if there is a body kit to consider, it’s usually borrowed.

The one here is the brainchild of K3 Projekt wheels and though the aesthetics have been altered, they’re signed by a different company.

iND is the company behind the front rear bumpers and the side skirts. Covering up the whole thing is a new Estoril Blue paint.

F30 BMW 3 Series by K3 Projekt Wheels

Quite the eye poping shade, and those BC Racing BR type coilovers serve up quite the suspension drop. You couldn’t tell this was an American conceived tune-up, could you?

Going for the full honors, the marketing folk at K3 Projekt Wheels even tell us they’ve fitted a BMS JB4 Stage 1 Tune, whatever that is.

At least the 20 inch alloy wheel setup we get and the Pirelli P-Zero tires are a must for anybody who’s at least a tiny bit serious about keeping the performance factor in the equation.

F30 BMW 3 Series by K3 Projekt Wheels

Those wheels are built in house and look just about stunning without appearing to have any kind of effort, without any explanation needed or any apologies available.
