There’s a big interest in the Competition Package offered by BMW: almost 80% of the 2015 BMW M3 customers in UK, bought it with this extra kit included. And we’re talking about the E90 generation. But now, the latest iteration of the model, the F80, also received a Competition Package.

Let’s take it the German way: it costs about ₤3000. And, let’s face it, it’s not a fortune. But what does it offer? First, more power: 19 hp extra. With the added horses, the M3 accelerates to 100 km/h in 4 seconds, one tenth faster than the original. But the engine is just a part of the package.

The rest of it includes recalibrated springs, dampers and anti-roll bars, for an efficient road holding. These are important, because the improved engine output demands more grip and sharper handling. Which leads us to the tires: there is a new set of 20 inch M wheels, packing 265/30 tires in front, and 285/30 in the rear. There’s even a new differential, called Active M, which sends more efficient the power to the ground, especially in the fast corners. And the updated driving modes are there to add more joy to “The joy of driving”.

And since the driver sits inside the car, he (or she) must be treated like a true competition driver. Thanks to its lightweight M sport seats and the M-striped seatbelts – the life behind the wheel is sportier than ever.
