“Rusty Slammington” the BMW 5 Series E28 is the result of one man’s love for his car. Mike Burroughs decided to put his rusty old car to good use, so what better way than to turn it into a speed monster. This BMW E28 is about looks as much as it is about performance.
The main thing about this car as the name may suggest is that it is a heap of rust. Of course this heap actually is a controlled one and is more powerful than your neighbor’s brand new 2017 stock BMW. In fact the look of the car seems rather menacing and not old or decrepit.
Still you can see right from the start that this particular E28 keeps the BMW spirit alive through the classic elements that have defined BMW for decades, now. The kidney grills, the older round headlamps the stop lights are without a doubt the BMW heritage that the manufacturer has left for each and every model it produces.
The BMW 5 Series E28 “Rusty Slammington” is in fact a rat-rod version of the same classic BMW. With a rear diffuser, side exhaust, huge wheel arches and a boxy wide body kit, “Rusty Slammington” is unmistakably a beast. The look of this E28 is wrapped by a set of BBS E57 rims wrapped in a set of thin tires. The rims complement the rest of the car through the brand new look and deep dish aspect. Mike Burroughs has even had time to add a WW2 bomber inspired decal which further gives this particular E28 style and personality.
The interior has been fitted only with basics. Apart from the roll cage and the racing seats there seems to be custom made light paneling for the interior of the car as well as various custom sensors and gadgets that help determine the car’s health at any given moment. The racing steering wheel seems right at home in this particular setup.
“Rusty Slammington” is powered by a modified 3.7 liter E34 BMW M5 engine that outputs no less than 500HP. The car’s stunning performance is also helped by the fitted next gen H&R suspension kit. Without a doubt the car sounds and feels amazing. The sheer power fitted into this one single vehicle is unbelievable. It is without a doubt one of the few race capable BMWs that incorporate both style and performance in one tiny but uniquely crafted package.
